I am currently on a surf trip on the Peruvian coast and it's been a great opportunity for a little change of scenery and lots of “nothingness” after a few intense months of cooking, matcha events and getting our partnering cafes ready for the season. We have just updated the list on our website!

I truly love the intensity of those months and the excitement and joy it gives me to create, share and meet all of you! Ultimately this is what it's all about and I am incredibly grateful for it and still all the ideas and visions I have for Grounded. But I'm not gonna lie - taking a step back, looking at my life as much as my business from the distance - has always helped and encouraged me to make more fearless decisions and re-defining my own path. Of course we always see what other people do and how we can stand out from the crowd, especially when now so many have jumped on the trendy matcha wagon and I am here silently judging :-)

But it's in exactly those moments when I realise that all I can do is to stay focused, follow my intuition and trust that my way is the only way that can truly fulfil and satisfy me. I mean, we never really “make” it, we are always chasing the next better or bigger deal and opportunity and I am definitely guilty of this mindset in the past but I have actively worked on limiting those thoughts and just believing in my vision. And my brand. And all the people that give it LIFE and make it to what it is which is so much more than just some green tea powder from Japan!

And to come back to the main topic and give you what the title promises…

A super fun, easy, summery, alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink that really only needs 3 ingredients (but you can obviously jazz it up a bit)

MATCHA GIMBER-ADE

gimber drink with ginger

(2 servings)

1,5 tsp of "Supreme SEN" or "Morning Ritual" matcha powder

60 ml GIMBER original or No2 BRUT (my preference)

300 ml sparkling water

ice cubes

optional:

40 ml of lemon or lime juice

2 shots of Sake or Whiskey

a few mint or basil leaves

With a bamboo whisk, mix the matcha with 2 Tbsp of hot (!!) water until it forms a paste. Add the GIMBER drink and whisk a few seconds until frothy. In a glass, add ice and pour the matcha mix over. Fill it up with sparkling water and any optional add-ins.
